British Nationality Act 1981 Chapter 61 makes fresh provisions about citizenship and nationality and amends the Immigration Act 1971 as regards the right of abode in the United Kingdom. The legal requirements to apply for naturalisation have changed under The Nationality and Borders Act 2022.
You can only apply to naturalise as a British citizen either by birth or if you are an adult (aged 18 or over). Children under the age of 18 may be registered as British citizens. Applications for children can be made at the same time as the parents seek to naturalise.
Eligibility means that you need to prove that you have been in the UK on Indefinite Leave to Remain or EU Settled Status for at least three years and that you have never broken the UK law, including immigration breaches, or if they meet the relevant criteria
